About Madinat Jumeirah

Set along a two-kilometre stretch of private coastline, Madinat Jumeirah is a beachfront resort comprising four distinctive hotels. About The Job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sous Chef - Pastry to join Jumeirah Al Qasr. The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Prepare and cook high-quality food according to menu guidelines, recipes, and instructions from senior chefs while ensuring adherence to hygiene, food handling, and cleaning standards.
  • Support the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef in setting and maintaining food service standards in compliance with company policies, quality procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in menu development by contributing creative and seasonal ideas using the finest ingredients while working within established guidelines.
  • Communicate and resolve kitchen-related issues by informing senior chefs and implementing necessary actions for smooth operations.
  • Oversee and participate in staff training, ensuring that team members follow established procedures while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards in compliance with HACCP and Jumeirah SOPs, including proper waste disposal and record-keeping.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in progressively more complex and responsible roles, ideally within the luxury hospitality industry.
  • College Degree in Culinary Arts or similar from an accredited Culinary School.
  • Expert in menu development, pricing, production, and delivery skills.
  • Expert in food quality and presentation skills.
  • Expert culinary knowledge of both classical and international culinary trends.
