Job Description

A Purchase Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing the procurement activities within an organization, ensuring that the purchasing operations run efficiently and effectively. This role is integral in maintaining the quality and cost-effectiveness of all acquired goods and services. The Purchase Supervisor coordinates with vendors, manages suppliers' relationships, assesses supplier performance, and negotiates contracts, all while adhering to the company's policies and budgetary frameworks. The individual in this role is expected to have excellent communication and negotiation skills, a keen sense of business acumen, and innovative problem-solving abilities. Additionally, the Purchase Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of procurement professionals, providing them with guidance, support, and training to optimize the procurement processes. Through effective leadership and strategic planning, the Purchase Supervisor contributes to the organization's overall performance, ensuring timely availability of the required products or services, maintaining inventory levels, and driving cost reductions. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the procurement lifecycle, from initiating purchase requests to final receipt of goods, punctuated by a commitment to sustainability and ethical purchasing practices.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic procurement plans to support organizational goals effectively.
  • Supervise and guide the procurement team to achieve department targets efficiently.
  • Conduct regular market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and new suppliers.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance through established metrics and conduct supplier evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations in all procurement activities.
  • Maintain clear and continuous communication with all stakeholders, including vendors and internal departments.
  • Identify and resolve procurement issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and manage an organized system for documentation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and industry partners.
  • Oversee inventory management to align with procurement activities and demand forecasting.
  • Assist in budget preparation and cost analysis for procurement-related expenditures.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of successful contracts.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills to manage a procurement team.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management practices required.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed, strategic procurement decisions.
