A Material Coordinator plays a critical role in the efficient operation of a supply chain, managing the flow of materials and products from suppliers to customers. This role involves ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of materials required for production or distribution activities, overseeing inventory levels, and coordinating the logistics needed to maintain seamless supply chain operations. Material Coordinators are responsible for communication with suppliers, the implementation of inventory control measures, and maintaining detailed records of transactions. This position requires a high degree of organizational skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems to prevent disruptions in the supply chain. Candidates in this role will be expected to balance scheduling requirements with customer needs, highlight areas for cost savings, and collaborate effectively with various departments to forecast material requirements. This multifaceted position demands attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and strong interpersonal skills to negotiate, analyze, and optimize logistics solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate materials procurement processes to ensure timely delivery of supplies.
  • Maintain accurate records of material orders and inventory levels.
  • Develop and optimize supply chain procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and forecast material requirements based on production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in material handling.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with vendors to achieve cost savings.
  • Conduct regular audits to manage inventory accuracy and integrity.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate materials management processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on material usage for management review.
  • Initiate continuous improvement initiatives to streamline material flows.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related field required.
  • Minimum of two years experience in materials coordination or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using ERP software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential for the role.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
