Job Description

As a Payroll Expert, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the payroll processes within our organization. Your primary goal will be to ensure that employees are compensated accurately and timely, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A deep understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and accounting principles is crucial. You will be responsible for maintaining our payroll software, streamlining processes, and ensuring the confidentiality of payroll data. In addition to technical skills, you should possess excellent communication abilities to liaise effectively with other departments and resolve any payroll discrepancies. You will also be tasked with staying current on legislative changes affecting payroll and implementing best practices within our payroll operations.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll data before processing bi-weekly payroll runs.
  • Maintain and update payroll files, ensuring compliance with company policy.
  • Collate and input employee data, including but not limited to salaries and deductions.
  • Manage payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate delivery of payroll.
  • Prepare payroll reports for management and review on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate with the HR department to resolve payroll discrepancies swiftly.
  • Handle payroll inquiries and issues raised by employees with professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Process payroll-related transactions including garnishments, benefits, and insurance withholdings.
  • Assist in auditing payroll procedures to ensure effective and efficient processes.
  • Stay informed about legislative changes affecting payroll practices and implement necessary changes.
  • Advise management on payroll best practices and potential cost-saving opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years proven experience working as a payroll specialist.
  • Proficiency in payroll software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of current federal and state tax regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively resolve employee queries.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and integrity.
