Job Description

The role of a Logistics Officer is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of supply chain management and logistics functions. This position involves coordinating and managing the supply, distribution, and receipt of goods across various locations. A Logistics Officer is responsible for overseeing the entire process, from procurement through to distribution, ensuring that all products reach their intended destination efficiently and on time. It involves working closely with different departments and external partners to optimize logistics activities, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. The individual in this role must have excellent organizational skills, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the acquisition, transportation, and distribution of goods and supplies.
  • Maintain and update logs of logistics activities and document essential shipment data.
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving logistics operations and reducing operational costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards in the logistics process.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers to optimize logistics operations.
  • Monitor the performance and cost-effectiveness of supply chains and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on logistics performance and efficiency to management.
  • Ensure accurate inventory tracking and management across all distribution points.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with transportation and logistics service providers.
  • Manage the logistics budget and ensure expenditures remain within the allocated limits.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure effective storage and shipment of products.
  • Implement contingency plans to mitigate risks in logistics operations and supply chain disruptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles.
  • Strong understanding of logistics operations, including transportation and warehousing.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite for reporting purposes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with various stakeholders.
