Job Description

A Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in managing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy of a company's financial records. This position typically involves overseeing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, financial statement preparation, and budgeting. The Senior Accountant serves as a mentor and leader within the accounting department, providing guidance to junior accountants and collaborating closely with upper management to ensure financial compliance and strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting practices, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of financial regulations. They should be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. A Senior Accountant's contribution is vital in driving an organization’s financial performance by reducing financial risks and improving overall financial processes.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Analyze complex financial data to provide insights and recommendations for decision-making.
  • Supervise and guide junior accounting staff, fostering professional development and skills enhancement.
  • Manage general ledger and reconcile discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit schedules and document preparations.
  • Develop and monitor organizational budgets, highlighting variances and making adjustments as needed.
  • Review and oversee processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions.
  • Implement and improve internal controls to enhance operational efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Collaborate with management to develop financial strategies and business plans.
  • Provide management with reports concerning financial outcomes and forecasts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • At least five years of progressive accounting experience in relevant roles.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or SAP is preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and presentations.
