Lead Backend Engineer

This is a leadership role in our engineering team – not just a cog in the wheel.

This is not a “maintenance” role. This is engineering leadership—owning the backend architecture of a global, privacy-first communication platform. You’ll lead by example, guide a high-calibre team, and ensure our backend systems remain blazing-fast, rock-solid, and uncompromising on security. You’ll be at the intersection of code and leadership—mentoring engineers, driving architectural decisions, and setting engineering standards that define how a global product is built.

What are we building?

WrkTalk is the worlds first zero-access, zero-spam enterprise communication product that operates on a structural privacy architecture. One that’s already earned the trust of large enterprises like L&T Finance, Adani Group, and Kalyan Jewellers – just to name a few of our enterprise clients. This is not an MVP. This is production-grade software that secures communication for thousands—and soon, millions—of professionals worldwide.

What’s the role?

• Architect backend systems in NestJS and Golang to meet global scale and enterprise-grade performance.

• Drive design for microservices, real-time comms (WebSockets, WebRTC), and data stores (PostgreSQL, Redis).

• Lead code reviews, enforce coding standards, and maintain CI/CD discipline.

• Mentor and upskill backend engineers.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend, DevOps, and product leaders.

• Own technical problem-solving—anticipate bottlenecks, make hard calls, and prevent tech debt from being parked for “later.”

• Manage task allocation, workflow discipline, and ensure smooth collaboration with frontend and DevOps.

The tech here is serious.

We work on socket-driven comms infrastructure, distributed control towers, multi-category encryption, root detection, app kill-switches, dynamic guest access, device-level lockout, and OOO/ DND logic layered with smart whitelisting. This is not lightweight app dev. This is protocol-layer decision-making.

Who should apply?

• 6–8+ years in backend engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

• Expertise in Golang and Node.js (NestJS).

• Strong database tuning skills (PostgreSQL, Redis).

• Solid understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and scalable deployment.

• Experience building real-time systems at scale.

• Proven ability to lead technical discussions and inspire engineering teams.

• Track record of shipping production-grade, high-performance systems.
