Job Description

As a Commis I in our dynamic culinary team, you will be at the forefront of food preparation and cooking in a professional kitchen. You are expected to display basic culinary skills and apply your enthusiasm for cooking in assisting chefs and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. You will have the unique opportunity to rotate in various kitchen stations, enhancing your skills and gaining comprehensive experience. Your role requires excellent teamwork, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality cuisine. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily preparation of food items and cooking techniques.
  • Support senior chefs in daily kitchen operations and specific tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation areas at all times.
  • Follow recipes accurately and ensure consistency in food quality and taste.
  • Rotate between different kitchen stations, learning various cooking methods.
  • Assist with inventory checks and proper storage of food supplies and ingredients.
  • Ensure compliance with culinary health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to meet kitchen needs and priorities.
  • Assist in plating dishes according to established presentation standards.
  • Contribute creative ideas for new menu items and seasonal dishes.
  • Prepare kitchen equipment and tools before and after service periods.
  • Report any food supply or equipment issues to the department head promptly.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent culinary qualification required.
  • Proven experience as a kitchen assistant or entry-level cook helpful.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new culinary challenges enthusiastically.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
