Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team, committed to promoting safety and health in the workplace. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations are met and adhered to at all times. The Safety Officer will play a vital role in maintaining a safe working environment by implementing safety policies, conducting safety audits, and providing training to staff and workers. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement workplace health and safety plans in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to assess the effectiveness of safety measures.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to identify causes and implement necessary improvements.
  • Provide safety training and awareness sessions to employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Collaborate with management to draft occupational safety standards and procedures.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of, and comply with, safety requirements and protocols.
  • Maintain records of inspections, fatalities, accidents, and other workplace health and safety data.
  • Report on the performance of the health and safety management system to senior management.
  • Participate in emergency planning and response activities, routinely updating plans as needed.
  • Stay informed about current health and safety laws and ensure compliance within the workplace.
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, and noise levels.
  • Lead initiatives to promote a culture of continuous safety improvement throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience as a Safety Officer or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, national, and environmental safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting on safety metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey safety information to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in emergency situations confidently.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety, such as NEBOSH or OSHA, is preferred.
