Charge Nurse

The Charge Nurse plays a pivotal leadership role within the nursing unit, overseeing clinical operations, managing nursing staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in alignment with established protocols and healthcare standards in the UAE. This position requires a balance of clinical expertise and administrative capability to coordinate workflows, address patient needs, and support hospital policies. The Charge Nurse acts as a liaison between nursing teams, physicians, and management to maintain efficient and compassionate care.

Responsibilities:

• Supervising nursing staff during assigned shifts and ensuring effective patient care delivery and adherence to clinical standards.

• Assigning duties to nurses and support staff based on patient needs and staff competencies.

• Monitoring patient progress and intervening in clinical situations when necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.

• Ensuring proper documentation, medication administration, and adherence to infection control protocols.

• Coordinating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to implement patient care plans.

• Managing shift handovers, conducting briefings, and maintaining effective communication among team members.

• Supporting training, mentoring, and performance evaluation of nursing personnel.

• Responding to patient or family concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.

• Ensuring compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, facility policies, and accreditation standards.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

• Valid license or eligibility to practice in the UAE.

• Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

• Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and crisis management skills.

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and team leadership abilities.

• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation systems.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or night shifts if required.
