Phlebotomist

A phlebotomist is a vital healthcare professional responsible for drawing blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing, transfusions, or donations. Responsibilities:

• Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture or capillary puncture techniques.

• Label, process, and store blood samples correctly for laboratory analysis.

• Verify patient identities and ensure proper documentation of procedures.

• Maintain clean and sterile workstations and follow infection control protocols.

• Handle patient inquiries and reassure individuals during the blood collection process.

• Transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely and secure manner.

• Maintain equipment and report any malfunction or required calibration.

• Follow standard operating procedures for sample handling and patient safety.

• Assist with inventory of phlebotomy supplies and reordering when needed.

• Cooperate with healthcare staff to ensure efficient clinic or hospital operations.

Requirements:

• Diploma or certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Technology.

• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting.

• Proven experience with different blood draw techniques.

• Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of safety and hygiene regulations in a medical setting.

• Ability to work under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
