Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Ecologist to spearhead our ecology division. This senior role involves leading large-scale ecological projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and delivering high-quality ecological consultancy services. The Principal Ecologist will work closely with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to develop environmentally sustainable solutions. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of project management, client liaison, and ecological assessment, with outstanding communication and leadership skills. Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about biodiversity conservation and has extensive field experience in ecological surveying and habitat assessment. Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage large-scale ecological projects from inception to completion.
  • Develop innovative and sustainable ecological solutions for client projects.
  • Conduct thorough ecological surveys and assess habitats and species populations.
  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant environmental legislation and policies.
  • Prepare and review detailed reports, including Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Provide expert ecological advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Guide and mentor junior ecologists to enhance their professional development.
  • Facilitate effective communication between clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for biodiversity conservation within project planning and execution.
  • Oversee data analysis to interpret ecological findings and inform decision making.
  • Engage in business development activities to expand client base and project portfolio.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in ecological practices.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in ecological consultancy or related role.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proven expertise in ecological survey methods and habitat assessment techniques.
  • Exceptional report writing and communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Thorough understanding of environmental regulations and policy frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency in using ecological data analysis software and related tools.
