Responsibilities

  • Conducting thorough examinations and analysis of tissues, blood, and bodily fluids to diagnose diseases and conditions.
  • Interpreting laboratory test results and preparing detailed reports for referring physicians.
  • Performing autopsies to determine cause of death and document findings.
  • Collaborating with other medical professionals to discuss patient cases and findings.
  • Ensuring quality control and quality assurance in the laboratory to maintain accuracy of test results.
  • Keeping abreast of new research, techniques, and technologies in the field of pathology.
  • Overseeing laboratory staff and providing training and guidance when necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all tests performed and results obtained.
  • Participating in research projects and contributing to scientific publications as needed.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks in the laboratory environment.

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology
  • Board certification in pathology from the American Board of Pathology
  • State medical license to practice as a pathologist
  • Strong knowledge and skills in laboratory medicine, diagnostics, and medical research
