Job Description

A Laboratory Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting scientists, researchers, and healthcare professionals by ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of laboratory activities. They handle a variety of tasks, from setting up and maintaining lab equipment to collecting and preparing samples, performing routine tests, and recording data accurately. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of lab equipment and instruments.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and place orders when necessary.
  • Collaborate with scientists and researchers to support ongoing projects and experiments.
  • Prepare chemical solutions and reagents for laboratory use as required.
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Assist in the setup and calibration of laboratory instruments and apparatus.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry and report generation.
  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste materials according to guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; postsecondary education in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working in a laboratory setting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment, techniques, and safety procedures is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for success.
  • Ability to follow both written and oral instructions precisely and accurately.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including data entry and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a team environment.
