Job Description

An HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Engineer is a professional responsible for designing, developing, and implementing safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. This role involves evaluating and improving company processes, facilities, and equipment to reduce the risks of accidents, injuries, and environmental harm. The HSE Engineer works closely with management and employees to promote adherence to safety standards and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. They are also tasked with conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and investigating incidents to prevent reoccurrences. As safety awareness and environmental stewardship are paramount across industries, the HSE Engineer plays a critical role in fostering a culture of safety and sustainability.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform regular audits and inspections to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analysis to identify potential safety concerns.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and accidents to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Provide safety training and development programs for employees and management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Collaborate with management to establish safety goals and strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Develop emergency response plans and conduct safety drills regularly.
  • Monitor environmental impact and ensure proper waste management and pollution prevention.
  • Advise on the procurement and installation of safety equipment and protective gear.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management among staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a similar HSE engineering role.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct detailed risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively train and guide team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement safety measures.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS) is highly desirable.
