Job Description

An Assistant Shopkeeper plays a crucial role in the daily operations of a retail store by assisting the main shopkeeper in maintaining a well-organized and customer-friendly environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist the shopkeeper with daily store operations and inventory management tasks.
  • Welcome and greet customers, assisting them with their shopping needs effectively.
  • Ensure shelves are stocked and products are displayed neatly and attractively.
  • Offer product information and advice, helping customers make informed purchases.
  • Operate the cash register efficiently, handling transactions accurately and promptly.
  • Participate in inventory counts and help to maintain accurate product inventory levels.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a professional manner.
  • Help maintain the store's cleanliness and organize items to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Assist in the receiving and unpacking of merchandise, stocking shelves as needed.
  • Monitor security within the store, addressing any loss prevention issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with the shopkeeper and team members to improve store performance and sales.
  • Prepare and assist in setting up promotional displays and store events as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education qualification is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a retail or customer service environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency with cash handling and familiarity with point of sale systems.
