Job Purpose

Manage the upcycling/recycling of decommissioned materials removed from the aircraft, transforming them into innovative, value-added products that extend material lifespan and support the companys sustainability objectives. Identify suitable materials and collaborate closely with Research & Development and various internal and external stakeholders to ensure all initiatives align with customer expectations, environmental standards, and the companys broader commitment to sustainable practices

In This Role You Will

  • Responsible for continuously monitoring and researching advancements in material technologies to identify and facilitate innovative methods for the utilisation of repurposed materials, ensuring the upcycling process remains efficient, sustainable, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Accountable for the ongoing and thorough execution of inspections and audits throughout the production process, ensuring that the quality of the upcycled products meets defined design specifications, complies with sustainability standards, and consistently aligns with customer expectations.
  • Manage and conduct product quality audits, perform spot checks, and assess staff competency to ensure the highest standards of product quality are maintained and delivered.
  • Drive a safety culture and promote continuous awareness, ensuring that workplace practices, equipment handling, and production methods strictly adhere to health and safety regulations to safeguard both staff and the quality of finished products.
  • Actively collaborate with the Research and Development team to drive continuous improvement of both products and processes. Develop and implement monitoring tools to track performance and ensure consistent, efficient production flow rates.
  • Responsible for proactively advising senior management on identified gaps or deficiencies in product, process efficiency, quality assurance, safety compliance, and delivery timelines. Providing actionable insights and recommendations to ensure all upcycling initiatives align with the companys sustainability goals.
  • Lead and support the team through coaching, feedback, and performance management to promote growth and achieve departmental goals. Foster a positive, collaborative environment that encourages accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualification

To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering/component/product design/manufacture/sustainability/ maintenance, or environmental management.
  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
  • Degree in Electro Mechanical discipline or a subject related to environmental management, technology, or aeronautical engineering.
  • Or holder of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence - GCAA/EASA
  • Familiar with waste management processes and procedures.
  • Familiar with raw material technology.
  • A working knowledge of environmental standards would be an advantage ( EN14001).
  • Strong interpersonal skills (written and oral) and the ability to work in a diverse multicultural environment.
