Freelance Graphic Designer

This role involves preparing the interior layout of a professionally published hardback book, estimated at 160–180 pages. The book will be printed in black-and-white on letter-format pages and includes a preface along with several dedicated quote pages. The main responsibility is to establish a clean, readable layout using either Affinity Publisher or Adobe InDesign. The project requires setting up sample pages to define type style and page design, refining these with feedback, and finalizing the entire typesetting for print production on a tight schedule. Cover design is handled separately, so this role is focused exclusively on the interior pages.

Deliverables

• Design and deliver sample interior layouts to establish typography and formatting style
• Typeset the full manuscript of approximately 160–180 pages for print-ready export
• Incorporate quote pages consistently throughout the layout
• Ensure correct formatting, spacing, and alignment across all chapters
• Prepare final print-ready files to publishing specifications

Requirements

• Proven experience in book typesetting and print production workflows
• Proficiency with Affinity Publisher or Adobe InDesign
• Strong typography and page composition skills, with attention to readability and consistency
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and deliver polished, error-free layouts
• Portfolio showcasing previous book or long-form document typesetting projects
• Reliable communication and responsiveness during the project timeline
• Availability to begin promptly and complete within the required timeframe
