Job Description

The Civil Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in the planning, design, and oversight of construction projects such as roads, bridges, and water supply systems. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and project management capabilities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Civil Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians, liaising with clients, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines. They must also ensure compliance with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and local construction codes. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously.


Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of civil engineers and technicians to achieve project goals.
  • Oversee the planning, design, and construction phases of civil engineering projects.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure project success.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans for optimal project delivery.
  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal construction regulations.
  • Manage project risks by identifying potential issues and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Review engineering designs, calculations, and proposals for technical accuracy.
  • Prepare and present project progress reports to stakeholders and management.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at construction sites.
  • Resolve any technical issues that arise during project design and execution.
  • Implement quality control measures to uphold construction and engineering standards.
  • Foster an environment of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable and advantageous.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering project management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction laws, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
  • Proficiency in project management software, CAD, and other engineering tools.
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineers and fostering professional development.
