Job Description

A Registered Nurse - OT, or Operating Theatre Nurse, plays a critical role in the surgical team, providing essential care to patients before, during, and after surgery. This position requires a compassionate and detail-oriented individual capable of working in high-pressure environments. As a Registered Nurse in the operating room, you will be responsible for ensuring patient safety, preparing surgical instruments, and assisting surgeons during procedures. Moreover, you’ll play a significant role in postoperative care, monitoring patient recovery and addressing any complications that may arise. Your expertise and diligence are crucial in making surgeries successful and providing patients with a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical experience.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for surgery by conducting preparatory procedures and briefing them appropriately.
  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized and set up properly pre-surgery.
  • Assist surgeons during operations by handing over instruments and providing necessary materials.
  • Maintain a sterile environment within the operating room to prevent infection.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs during surgery to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Communicate effectively with surgical team members to coordinate and facilitate effective operations.
  • Assess and report any changes in patients’ conditions to the surgical team promptly.
  • Provide postoperative care and administer medications to support patient recovery.
  • Record precise surgical data and ensure accurate documentation of patient charts.
  • Educate patients and their families on postoperative care and necessary lifestyle changes.
  • Troubleshoot any operative and postoperative equipment to ensure continued patient care quality.
  • Participate in continuous education and training to maintain nursing competencies and proficiency.

Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license .
  • Minimum of two years of experience in an operational theater or ICU environment.
  • Proficiency in operating theater protocols, patient care, and emergency procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with teammates and patients.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage various tasks efficiently and promptly.
  • Strong capability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
