Heavy Bus Driver (225-811)

As a heavy bus driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation of passengers to their destinations. You will operate a large passenger vehicle on scheduled routes or special excursions. An essential part of the position involves maintaining a high level of customer service, ensuring passengers enjoy a pleasant journey. Staying alert and focused is critical as you navigate various routes and traffic conditions. Precision and adherence to traffic laws and company protocols are crucial. Responsibilities

• Operate large passenger vehicles safely to transport passengers along designated routes.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and regulations while driving the bus.
• Provide excellent customer service to passengers, assisting with queries and directions.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of scheduled routes and any changes that occur.
• Ensure passenger safety by monitoring for disruptive behavior and intervening calmly.
• Manage a timely schedule, ensuring minimal delays to passenger pickups and drop-offs.
• Document and report any incidents, accidents, or breakdowns according to company policies.
• Assist passengers with special needs, including those requiring wheelchair access.
• Ensure cleanliness and operational readiness of the bus at all times.
• Coordinate with dispatch and other drivers to optimize route efficiency and traffic avoidance.
• Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting tasks to maintain vehicle condition.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification is required.
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement must be held.
• Proven experience driving heavy or large passenger vehicles preferred.
• Strong knowledge of local and state traffic laws and regulations.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and team members.
• Ability to remain attentive and focused for long periods while driving.
