Job Description

A Procurement Officer plays a crucial role in any organization by overseeing the acquisition of goods and services that are essential for the company’s operations. This position entails managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services at optimal costs. The Procurement Officer is responsible for maintaining an efficient supply chain, which includes forecasting material requirements, conducting market analysis, and adhering to budgetary constraints. The role demands a high degree of commercial awareness, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to align procurement strategies with organizational goals. An effective Procurement Officer contributes to the financial health of the company by ensuring value for money and mitigating risks associated with supply chain disruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and execute sourcing strategies to ensure procurement objectives are met.
  • Monitor market trends to identify potential opportunities and supply chain risks.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and partners.
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers' performance based on key performance indicators.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to meet company operational needs.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for goods and services.
  • Analyze and forecast procurement needs to align with budget planning and expenditures.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment of procurement processes and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments on existing and potential suppliers and negotiate risk mitigation plans.
  • Identify areas for improvement to enhance the efficiency of the procurement process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or similar role in the industry.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of favorable contract management.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier proposals and conduct spend analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks with strict deadlines and minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for supplier and internal stakeholder engagement.
