Job Description

The Health and Safety Executive is a pivotal role in ensuring that workplace environments are safe, compliant, and conducive to the well-being of all employees. The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a healthy work environment. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety and maintaining adherence to health regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a robust knowledge of health and safety regulations, have strong analytical skills, and be able to effectively communicate policies across the organization. As a conscientious leader, the Health and Safety Executive will work collaboratively to enhance safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and manage compliance issues, playing a key role in safeguarding both employees and the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with managers to address and rectify safety concerns promptly.
  • Lead risk assessments and recommend improvements to minimize potential hazards.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of hazardous materials and substances at all sites.
  • Provide training programs for employees on health and safety best practices.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of safety inspections and compliance activities.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to health and safety laws.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on safety performance and improvements.
  • Assist in the development of emergency response and evacuation plans for crises.
  • Advocate for and promote a culture of proactive safety within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of national and industry-specific health and safety regulations.
  • Proven experience in a health and safety role within a corporate setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for all organizational levels.
  • Ability to lead training sessions and influence a safety-first culture effectively.
  • Certification in health and safety management, such as NEBOSH or IOSH, is advantageous.
