Job Purpose

Implement and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS) and other environmental services (waste management & marine) to ensure Nawah compliance with environmental regulation & requirements and identify gaps in compliance to improve performance. Review and provide support to the Operational Environmental Management Plan (OEMP) and related environmental procedures to ensure completeness and compliance with environmental regulations and requirements.

Key Activities, Responsibility & Accountability

  • Implement the folder structure on EMS based on the plan and maintain environmental management documentation, including environmental procedures, processes and programs, within Nawah’s Integrated Management System (NIMS) to ensure EMS and NIMS are aligned and in compliance with environmental regulations and requirements.
  • Coordinate input into environmental programs including EMS, Compensatory Management Program (CMP), Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP), air, water, storm water, endangered species, fish counting, etc. to align with program requirements.
  • Implement the environmental services related but not limited waste management and marine services.
  • Review policies, procedures, operating practices, equipment specifications, designs, regulatory changes and internal business strategies for environmental requirements and provide advice to other functions across Nawah and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC).
  • Coordinate with ENEC to identify, monitor and track environmental design features within the prime contract to completion.
  • Provide information to Licensing, Engineering and ENEC Health Safety and Environment (HSE) as needed

  • Develop scope of work for marine resources and oversee their procurement to ensure meeting their objectives.
  • Develop the Marine Wildlife Response Plan and coordinate internal and external resources to complete its deployment.
  • Conduct and oversee implementation of marine environmental monitoring activities to ensure alignment with standards.
  • Monitor marine environmental monitoring equipment and systems to ensure they are in place and working effectively.
  • Participate in marine ecological monitoring to ensure compliance with marine ecological regulations and requirements.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in an environmental field.

Experience

  • 4 years of experience in a similar role in power plant operations or similar industrial setting or consultancy.
