As an ECG Technician, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare team by performing electrocardiogram (ECG) tests to help diagnose and monitor patients' heart conditions. Your expertise in operating ECG equipment, accurately recording results, and ensuring patient comfort will contribute to delivering high-quality cardiac care.
Responsibilities:
Perform electrocardiogram (ECG) tests on patients to record the electrical activity of their heart.
Attach electrodes to the patient's chest, arms, and legs according to the standardized procedure.
Set up and operate ECG machines, ensuring proper calibration and functionality before each test.
Adjust settings, as needed, to capture clear and accurate ECG readings.
Explain the ECG procedure to patients and ensure their comfort and relaxation during the test.
Position patients correctly and securely to obtain the best quality ECG signals.
Monitor the ECG machine during testing to ensure accurate data collection.
Record and document ECG readings, including any observations or irregularities.
Review ECG tracings for clarity and correctness, ensuring that artifacts or errors are addressed promptly.
Verify the accuracy of patient information and ECG recordings.
Recognize and respond to any potential issues or emergencies during the ECG test.
Communicate any critical findings to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
Organize and maintain patient ECG records and results in an organized and secure manner.
Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection regulations.
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate ECG results for patient assessment and diagnosis.
Stay current with advances in ECG technology, techniques, and best practices through ongoing education and professional development.
High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant certification or diploma in ECG Technology is preferred.
Previous experience as an ECG Technician is advantageous.
Knowledge of ECG equipment operation, electrode placement, and standard procedures.
Familiarity with medical terminology and cardiac anatomy.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to accurately record ECG data.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency situations.
Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and data privacy.
Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by the healthcare facility.
