Job Purpose

This position leads the geophysics discipline, maintaining regional and/or national recognition as an authority both internally and externally. The role covers shallow surface geophysical projects (mostly 0–200m depth) across sectors such as civil engineering, oil & gas, and mining. The candidate will support the development of Fugro’s GroundIQ® solutions by promoting integrated geophysical and geotechnical approaches through regular client engagement.

As a senior expert and trusted consultant, the incumbent will make authoritative decisions and recommendations that influence engineering and geoscience activities. The role involves delivering conference presentations, authoring technical articles, and contributing to industry visibility.

While primarily technical, the role also includes supporting commercial activities related to geophysical services and driving technical innovation. The candidate will spearhead efforts to expand geophysical applications within the industry, contribute valuable insights to business development initiatives, and support departmental growth through the adoption of advanced applied geophysics technologies.

Technical excellence, proactive client engagement, and innovation are essential, with experience or familiarity in ambient noise tomography (passive seismic) considered an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Support HSSE initiatives by organizing safety workshops and safety talks within the business line.
• Is responsible for all aspects of the project related to geophysical data acquisition (completeness and quality), interpretation and delivery, including the line management, supervision and training of more junior team members.
• Manage project execution of medium to high complexity, supervise junior team members, and uphold interpretative standards.
• Conduct regular visits to existing and potential clients, fostering strong relationships and supporting the promotion of GroundIQ solutions.
• Contribute to scientific and commercial activities, including writing technical articles, presenting at conferences, and supporting marketing efforts.
• Provide technical input for tenders, develop project procedures, and recommend supplementary investigations as needed.
• Lead efforts to integrate geophysical and geotechnical data (as Fugro’s GroundIQ® solution) to support innovative client solutions.
• Foster a collaborative team environment with curiosity and openness to new technologies and methods.
• Contribute to technical development programs, industry thought leadership, and business growth strategies.
• Any other work assigned by company and/or BLM from time to time, based on competency.
  
  
  

Required Experience & Skills

• Strong expertise in shallow geophysical methods applicable to multiple sectors.
• Client-focused with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
• Curious, tech-savvy, and open-minded about new geophysical and geotechnical techniques.
• Team player with a problem-solving mindset
• Familiarity or experience with ambient noise tomography/passive seismic (preferred) and geotechnical information

Entitled to refuse any to undertake any activity considered unsafe. Responsible for filling up of hazard observation card, wherever hazard has been noticed at site. Responsible for safe housekeeping of his work place. To stop any operation that is deemed unsafe To be able to operate fire extinguisher in case of fire To report an incident as soon as possible to immediate supervisor and HSE manager To complete HSE trainings as instructed to do so.
