Job Description

A Sales Engineer is a vital bridge between the technical expertise of the engineering team and the strategic vision of the sales team. This role requires a unique blend of technical proficiency and sales acumen to effectively communicate the benefits and features of a company's products to potential clients. The Sales Engineer must be adept at understanding technical specifications and how these align with client needs, often customizing solutions to solve complex problems. The ability to convey technical information in an easily digestible manner is crucial. Sales Engineers typically work closely with the sales team to support sales strategies, assist in understanding customer requirements, and ensure that the sales and technical support teams are aligned. This position often requires travel to customer sites to conduct presentations, demonstrate products, and foster strong relationships with clients to support business development efforts.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute technical sales strategies effectively.
  • Identify potential clients and assess their needs to recommend suitable products or services.
  • Provide product demonstrations and presentations to showcase product capabilities to potential clients.
  • Serve as a technical expert during sales calls and client meetings, answering queries comprehensively.
  • Prepare and customize technical proposals and presentations according to client requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with product management to provide feedback on customer needs and market trends.
  • Work with customers to resolve any technical issues, ensuring satisfaction and retention.
  • Participate in trade shows, seminars, and networking events to promote the company's solutions.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and competitor activities.
  • Support the sales cycle by managing technical evaluations, trials, and proof-of-concept engagements.
  • Track and manage potential leads and opportunities using CRM software.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to facilitate the customization of products per client specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in sales engineering, technical sales, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of complex technical concepts and the ability to communicate them effectively.
  • Exceptional presentation and persuasion skills developed through previous client-facing roles.
  • Ability to travel frequently for client meetings and industry events as required.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software to manage sales processes and customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and analytical skills for assessing customer needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team environments involving sales, marketing, and technical teams.
