About The Role
The Fabrication technician is responsible for planning, documenting and installation for all relevant components and equipment into Harman´s CA system benches and Concept Cars, which includes wiring, system parts installation and handing of A-surface parts.
This role needs to interface with multiple stakeholders e.g Industrial designers, mechanical engineers and system integration engineers, etc.
What You Will Do
Fabricate and install custom A-surface parts into cars in accordance with specifications and guidance from the engineering team.
Install system wiring and system components into test racks and vehicles in accordance with specifications and guidance from the engineering team
Design, build and install custom made brackets to meet parts installation specifications.
Vehicle tear down and assembly
Fabrication shop upkeep (parts bin, supply bin)
Vehicle wiring and electrical system troubleshooting together with relevant engineering team members
System checks analyses like rub & buzz check together with system integration engineers
Attending and providing constructive feedback in kick off meetings and other meetings
Project time management and estimates
Coordinating and communicating all aspects with suppliers (CAD data, support prototypes, get them all components for completion)
Liaison between engineering and fab shop and industrial design and suppliers
Quality assurance of outgoing products to ensure deliverables are in accordance with initial agreements or specifications
What You Need To Be Successful
Technician degree level or higher
1+ years of experience in custom part design and installations, soldering and hardware installation
Experience with prototype and concept car builds
Experience with wiring vehicle electrical systems
Use of all hand tools and shop equipment
Experience with metal work and parts fabrication
Experience with vinyl, leather, fabric wrapping
Ability to speak and write English as all communication and documentation will be in English
Hands-on mentality
Excellent organizational skills
Ability of using MS Office products
Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously
Good analytic skills
Quality minded attitude and passion for delivering high quality work
Bonus Points if You Have
Financial knowledge and understanding is a plus
Experience with electrical, in-vehicle components and subsystems
Ability to successfully manage multiple simultaneous projects
Ability to write reports and technical correspondence to internal customers and external and suppliers
Ability to work in a team environment as well as self-responsible approach depending on the situation
What Makes You Eligible
Be willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international
Be willing to work in an office in Bangalore, India
This position requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion, no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
