Job Description

As a storekeeper, you play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and organization of a store or warehouse. Your responsibilities include managing inventory levels, receiving, storing, and issuing goods, and maintaining accurate records of all transactions. You will collaborate with various departments and suppliers to ensure the timely and efficient flow of goods. A successful storekeeper is detail-oriented, well-organized, and possesses a strong understanding of inventory management software and procedures. You will be instrumental in ensuring that the store operates efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. Your role is crucial in maintaining the overall supply chain effectiveness, thereby supporting the organization in meeting its operational goals.


Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and store incoming goods and ensure accuracy of deliveries.
  • Maintain and update accurate inventory records on software or databases.
  • Conduct regular audits of stock levels and report discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate and oversee the shipping and receiving operations effectively.
  • Ensure that all goods are stored in the proper locations safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to resolve delivery or quality issues.
  • Optimize inventory flow through effective stock control and reordering processes.
  • Implement and maintain proper health and safety protocols in the store area.
  • Generate and analyze inventory-related reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for inventory needs and store improvements.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on store procedures and inventory systems.
  • Manage and supervise store staff, delegating tasks and checking work quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certification is a plus.
  • Previous experience working as a storekeeper or in inventory management.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required for the role.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items and perform physical tasks as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with suppliers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
