Job Description

An Automotive Technician is a skilled professional responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. This role requires a deep understanding of vehicle systems and components, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and more. Technicians must diagnose problems accurately and perform repairs efficiently, often working with advanced diagnostic tools and equipment. Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and tune-ups.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and systems in vehicles.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe work environment within the service area.
  • Liaise with clients to understand the issues with their vehicles firsthand.
  • Provide accurate estimates for repair times and costs for transparency.
  • Test drive vehicles after repairs to ensure all problems have been resolved.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and policies during repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Keep detailed records of all work performed for both billing and future reference.
  • Stay updated on new automotive technologies and tools in the industry.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide high-quality service and resolve complex issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is preferred.
  • Certification from a recognized automotive technology program is required.
  • Proven experience as an Automotive Technician or in a similar role.
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components in vehicles.
  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostic equipment and computerized systems.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for effective troubleshooting.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
