Job Description

A CCTV Technician is a highly skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems. They play an essential role in ensuring the security and surveillance of various properties, including residential, commercial, and industrial sites. A CCTV Technician evaluates the specific needs of a location, recommends suitable equipment, and ensures the systems are optimally configured for their intended purposes. They are adept at troubleshooting technical issues and providing solutions to ensure systems remain operational at all times. This role requires a deep understanding of various electronic and telecommunication systems, combined with a hands-on approach to problem-solving. An effective CCTV Technician has excellent attention to detail and situational awareness to address security needs accurately.


Responsibilities

  • Install and configure CCTV systems according to client and security needs.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks and servicing of CCTV equipment and components.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and provide effective solutions promptly.
  • Ensure all installations are compliant with local and national safety regulations.
  • Identify and recommend upgrades or enhancements to current CCTV systems.
  • Educate clients and staff on system functionalities and basic troubleshooting.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess the best equipment placement and setup.
  • Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repair tasks.
  • Collaborate with security professionals to ensure systems meet security objectives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance remotely or on-site as required.
  • Ensure inventory control and management of spare parts and equipment.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in CCTV and surveillance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in electronics is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a CCTV technician or in a similar role is necessary.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, test equipment, and diagnostic software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams accurately.
  • Strong knowledge of digital electronics, telecommunications, and network systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for precision work.
  • Good communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly to clients.
  • Physical fitness to perform tasks such as climbing and lifting equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
