Job Description

A Retail Merchandiser plays an essential role in ensuring that the presentation of products in retail stores is attractive, efficient, and aligned with the company's sales goals. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at making sure that merchandise is organized, displayed in an appealing manner, and stocked adequately. The Retail Merchandiser works closely with the sales and inventory teams to ensure shelves are stocked with the right products in the right quantities. Creativity and an eye for detail are critical, as Merchandisers must create visually engaging displays that attract customers and drive sales. Good organizational skills and the ability to analyze market and consumer trends are also key competencies for success in this role. This position often requires moving and setting up heavy displays and climbing ladders for product placement, emphasizing the need for physical stamina and the ability to work under time constraints.


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement attractive and effective product displays in retail setups.
  • Ensure all products are priced and tagged correctly and visibly.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with inventory management to replenish inventory.
  • Collaborate with store managers to determine the most profitable display location.
  • Conduct regular audits of displays and product arrangements for compliance.
  • Identify and correct any discrepancies in product inventory swiftly and accurately.
  • Analyze market trends to forecast future product demands and displays.
  • Train retail staff on best practices for product placement and presentation.
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors regarding product quality and availability.
  • Plan and execute promotional events and special displays during peak sales periods.
  • Maintain clear communication with the marketing department regarding brand representation.
  • Prepare and present reports detailing merchandising efforts and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business is a plus.
  • Proven experience in retail merchandising or sales environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of retail principles and visual merchandising techniques.
  • Ability to analyze sales and market data to inform merchandising strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and capability to work with different teams.
  • Physical ability to lift displays and products, and endure periods of standing.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
