Job Description

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer plays a crucial role within organizations to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining various safety programs and policies to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. The HSE Officer conducts regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, investigates accidents or incidents, and provides recommendations for improvements in safety practices. They work closely with management and staff to promote a culture of safety, aiming to reduce workplace injuries and ensure environmental responsibility. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and possesses the ability to influence and motivate teams to achieve the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety and environmental programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to discover causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Provide training and awareness sessions on safety practices for all staff members.
  • Maintain and analyze records of workplace injuries and illnesses to drive improvements.
  • Coordinate emergency response and preparedness plans and drills effectively.
  • Collaborate with management to promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental awareness.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and best practices in HSE management.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance and compliance for management review.
  • Liaise with governmental and regulatory bodies regarding safety standards and compliance.
  • Mentor and support employees in understanding and implementing safety measures properly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a related HSE role is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to train, influence, and advise others.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety management will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed and comprehensive safety inspection reports.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate with diverse teams.
