Job Description

The Site HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring that health and safety protocols are strictly adhered to on job sites. As a pivotal member of the safety team, the Site HSE Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring site-specific safety measures while ensuring compliance with local and international safety regulations. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards before they result in incidents. The Site HSE Officer will work closely with various stakeholders including project managers, site supervisors, and operational staff to foster a culture of safety and to promote awareness and accountability throughout all levels of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures according to industry standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Identify and assess potential hazards, and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Provide training and support to employees on safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure legal compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills and manage emergency situations effectively.
  • Report safety statistics and prepare analysis reports for senior management review.
  • Advise on specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, and noise levels.
  • Participate in the investigation of accidents and incidents to identify root causes.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture among all personnel at the site.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective equipment is regularly maintained and available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role within the industry.
  • Strong understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful HSE programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
