Job Description

A Facilities Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the functionality, safety, and efficiency of a company's physical infrastructure. The person in this role is responsible for ensuring that the facilities are well-maintained and meet legal requirements, while also striving to enhance the work environment for employees and visitors alike. This can include overseeing the cleaning, maintenance, and repair of buildings, as well as managing building projects from renovations to relocations. A successful Facilities Manager should be capable of managing budgets effectively, dealing with contractors and vendors, and ensuring a productive work atmosphere through strategic planning and management of facilities operations. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement facilities management strategies to support organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all facility equipment and infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all facilities.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and facility services.
  • Manage facilities budgets, forecasting future expenses while seeking cost-saving opportunities.
  • Plan and oversee facility renovations, refurbishments, and relocations as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify areas needing improvement or repair.
  • Implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of the facilities.
  • Maintain an efficient record-keeping system for all facilities-related tasks and documents.
  • Supervise and train facilities staff to ensure a high level of service delivery.
  • Respond promptly to urgent facility issues to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Develop long-term maintenance plans to enhance facility reliability and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in facilities management or a similar role is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles for budget management.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills for contractor management.
  • Experience in managing large-scale building projects, renovations, or refurbishments.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the facilities sector.
  • Proficiency with computer-aided facility management (CAFM) software and databases.
