Draftsman

The Draftsman role is integral within the architectural and engineering design process, playing a key part in transforming preliminary designs into technical drawings and plans. This position requires a creative individual with a keen eye for detail, able to employ various computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, to create precise, detailed designs. The draftsman works in collaboration with architects and engineers, ensuring that all drawings comply with project specifications, standards, and regulatory guidelines. The role demands a combination of technical proficiency, spatial understanding, and innovative problem-solving to translate concepts into accurate drawings that serve as a roadmap for construction or manufacturing projects. Effective communication skills are essential, as the draftsman must communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of plans. 

Responsibilities

• Prepare architectural and engineering drawings using CAD software accurately.
• Collaborate closely with architects and engineers to finalize design plans.
• Interpret design specifications and convert them into detailed drawings.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
• Ensure all drawings conform to project guidelines and legal requirements.
• Revise and update drawings based on feedback from project stakeholders.
• Coordinate with other project team members to integrate design components.
• Conduct site visits to gather necessary data for project completion.
• Manage and archive all project-related documents and drawings meticulously.
• Assist in troubleshooting design-related issues with a problem-solving approach.
• Ensure timely completion of drawings while adhering to tight deadlines.
• Develop and maintain a library of standardized drawing templates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Drafting, Architecture, or related field.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design software, including AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proven experience in drafting roles within architecture or engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of design principles and construction processes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering documentation accurately.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Strong attention to detail and capability to work with minimal supervision.
