A Construction Manager - Civil is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of civil construction projects from inception to completion. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating construction activities ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. The manager must work closely with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to interpret contracts, design plans, and technical specifications accurately. They are responsible for monitoring compliance with building codes and other regulations, managing project schedules, and resolving any unexpected issues that arise during construction. Ensuring the optimum use of resources and managing the performance of the construction teams, they must also conduct site visits to ensure work adheres to safety standards. Effective communication with stakeholders and providing progress reports on a regular basis are also critical tasks.


Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans outlining timelines, budget, and resources needed.
  • Oversee all stages of project life cycle from planning to execution.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with building codes and regulations.
  • Monitor on-site activities to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Manage relationships with architects, engineers, and other contractors effectively.
  • Assess project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Coordinate and communicate with various stakeholders to meet project goals.
  • Prepare construction progress reports and present them to upper management.
  • Develop and enforce policies to improve the efficiency of construction teams.
  • Manage procurement processes and coordinate delivery of materials on site.
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that arise.
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate project progress and identify potential issues.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management roles.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivered construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, means, and methods.
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills with adept problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex technical documents and designs.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite essential.
