JOB TITLE

Manager - Direct Tax | Holding | Finance

Job Purpose

The primary objective of the candidate shall be to support the Tax Operations Director – Direct Tax in overseeing the Direct Tax Operations focused on compliance and audit and serving various markets in which the Group operates. The focus will be on streamlining operational tax compliance for businesses and working closely with the Group’s shared service centre in Egypt (GS) to promote efficiency and ensuring quality service delivery.

Role Profile

  • Focus on providing oversight and support for the Direct Tax Operations compliance and audit for Real-estate business, ensuring alignment with the Group’s strategic goals
  • Prepare and maintain documentation to substantiate the basis of preparation and tax positions for compliances as needed.
  • Responsible for Corporate Tax /Zakat compliance for GCC region including registrations/ deregistration, return filing, making clarification requests and making payments/ obtaining refunds along with local country and GS teams.
  • Ensure Withholding Tax compliance including filing returns, taking treaty benefits and documenting positions for each type of payment.
  • Assist in other direct tax compliance and reporting obligations where applicable such as ESR, FATCA/ CRS.
  • Provide input into Transfer Pricing compliance such as local files, master files and disclosure form and maintain requisite benchmarking evidence and inter-company agreements as undertaken by the GS team.
  • Work closely with GS teams and provide the required support with their mandate and delivery.
  • Provide inputs into day-to-day tax advisory for the respective areas and countries as needed.
  • Consolidate and report on tax risks and mitigation measures.
  • Identify and ideate tax optimisation opportunities to create value for the group.
  • Involve in tax audit management and socialize progress and learnings with other verticals.
  • Monitoring tax developments and regulatory changes impacting on the scope of existing covered compliances and taking appropriate action/ recommendation.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting pack and dashboards for CFOs and Risk Committee highlighting areas of risk, opportunities and compliance status
  • Consider automation opportunities and deploy tax technology tools to bring efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of similar experience, having worked in a Tax environment in a large organization, managing tax operational matters and leading tax teams.
  • Having work in a Big 4 Audit firm in the UAE or any tax consulting role is recommended.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting is a must.
  • Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA/ ACCA/ CPA/ ICAEW).
  • Good practical and technical tax knowledge in taxes including Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, Withholding Tax and strong understanding of global tax regulations and trends.
  • Good written and oral communication skills – Fluency in English.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and drive organizational change.
