Job Description

The Lab Operations Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that all laboratory activities run smoothly and efficiently, supporting scientific and research initiatives within the organization. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, as well as managing staff and resources effectively. The Lab Operations Manager is responsible for establishing and implementing operational policies and procedures, coordinating with various departments to support project needs, and ensuring that all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and operational. This leadership role requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic planning, and strong communication skills to foster an environment conducive to scientific discovery and advancement.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement laboratory operational policies and procedures effectively and efficiently.
  • Supervise and manage the laboratory staff, including their performance and development.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations strictly adhered to.
  • Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment regularly.
  • Coordinate with other departments to fulfill project and research requirements collaboratively.
  • Manage the laboratory's budget, overseeing expenditures and resource allocation prudently.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory-related metrics and data daily.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency.
  • Facilitate training programs for staff on latest laboratory techniques and protocols periodically.
  • Represent the laboratory in meetings with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Collaborate with researchers to optimize laboratory support for their projects successfully.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, ensuring timely ordering and restocking consistently.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field required.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in laboratory management preferred.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory practices, standards, and compliance regulations necessary.
  • Proven experience managing a team of laboratory personnel effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize lab processes significantly.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills for handling multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills for team and stakeholder collaboration.
