Job Description

An Imports and Exports Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing and overseeing international trade operations, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and efficient movement of goods across borders. This position demands proficiency in coordinating shipments, handling necessary documentation, and resolving any issues that may arise during the import or export process. The role requires strong analytical skills for assessing the logistical needs of the organization and ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery of products. Providing assistance and advice on material sourcing, maintaining relationships with vendors and stakeholders, and constantly monitoring changes in local, national, and international freight tariffs are key components of this role. The Imports and Exports Specialist also works closely with internal departments to align logistics operations with the company’s strategic goals and assists in developing processes for continuous improvement in import and export operations.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the entire import and export process for accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with international and local laws on shipments.
  • Prepare and review import and export documents and forms.
  • Liaise with shipping companies and freight forwarders efficiently.
  • Monitor sudden changes in customs regulations and inform management.
  • Develop relationships with external vendors and suppliers globally.
  • Resolve customer and shipment issues timely to avoid delays.
  • Manage International Logistics insights to optimize delivery timelines.
  • Provide guidance and training on specific trade compliance procedures.
  • Maintain and update records of all imports and exports transactions.
  • Conduct risk assessments of all imported and exported packages.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for strategic alignment of logistics.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in international trade operations.
  • Strong understanding of global trade laws and compliance standards.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills are highly essential.
  • Proficient in using trade management and logistics software tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
  • Solid organizational skills with experience in time management.
  • Proficiency in a second language is considered advantageous.
  • Certification in import and export is preferred but not required.
