The role of a Healthcare Receptionist is vital in any healthcare setting, as it involves being the first point of contact for patients and visitors. A Healthcare Receptionist is responsible for creating a welcoming and efficient environment, facilitating the smooth operation of the clinic or hospital. Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct patients, families, and visitors with a friendly demeanor.
  • Manage patient appointments and maintain an organized scheduling system.
  • Handle patient inquiries via phone, email, and in-person communications effectively.
  • Verify patient insurance information and eligibility accurately before appointments.
  • Coordinate appointments, including rescheduling or follow-ups, as needed.
  • Assist patients with the completion of necessary paperwork and documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy reception area to promote a professional atmosphere.
  • Utilize electronic medical records to update patient information accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare staff to ensure timely patient care.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries efficiently.
  • Process patient payments and manage billing inquiries as required.
  • Assist in administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and data entry.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification is an asset.
  • Proven experience in a reception or customer service role, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong communication skills with proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare software systems preferred.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask within a busy environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-oriented with a professional appearance and attitude.
