Job Description

An Estimation Engineer plays a pivotal role in the planning and cost management of projects, making sure that all necessary resources are accurately accounted for before a project begins. Working closely with project managers and industry professionals, the Estimation Engineer provides valuable input into project bids, cost proposals, and budgeting strategies. This role requires a detailed-oriented approach and a strong understanding of engineering principles, project management, and cost control. Estimation Engineers are often involved in the initial stages of project development, analyzing data, assessing risk, and forecasting financial outcomes. Their contribution is crucial in ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and align with client expectations. Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project cost estimates based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Analyze project requirements and specifications to determine the necessary resources and materials.
  • Prepare comprehensive budgetary cost estimates during the planning phase of projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure estimates meet financial and project requirements.
  • Evaluate risk factors and develop mitigation strategies to avoid cost overruns.
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to obtain quotations for project components.
  • Review and update estimates as project requirements change or new information becomes available.
  • Prepare bid presentations and reports for reviewing by stakeholders and project committees.
  • Liaise with engineering teams to clarify technical queries related to design and cost.
  • Utilize software tools and databases to improve the accuracy of cost estimates.
  • Support procurement teams by providing cost analysis for negotiations with suppliers.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of historical data for future reference and estimation accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • At least three years of experience in estimation, cost management, or related fields.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple estimation projects.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
  • Experience with CAD software and understanding of engineering blueprints is preferred.
