Job Description

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is a pivotal role in ensuring the effective functioning of electrical systems within our organization. The individual in this position will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing plant facilities and manufacturing equipment. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, as well as the ability to work with a diverse range of machinery and tools. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in minimizing downtime and ensuring the continuous operation of electrical equipment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and have the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong communication skills and a commitment to workplace safety are also essential.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on all electrical equipment to prevent sudden breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operation.
  • Install new electrical systems and components as required by the company's operational needs.
  • Maintain an inventory of essential spare parts and tools necessary for maintaining electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration and operation of electrical systems.
  • Keep detailed maintenance logs that document all actions taken and issues encountered for future reference.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to apprentices or less experienced colleagues as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and policies during all maintenance activities.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical maintenance technologies and methods.
  • Support the development and implementation of new electrical maintenance procedures.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdown calls to minimize production impact.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a vocational qualification in electrical maintenance.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and protocols with a focus on safety.
  • Experience using test equipment like oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and voltmeters.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Thorough understanding of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
  • Good physical condition and strength with the ability to work at heights and tight spaces.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members and other departments.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and on-call shifts as necessary.
