Job Description

The role of a Distribution Manager is a pivotal position within a company's supply chain, responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient movement of goods from suppliers to customers. This role requires an individual with a comprehensive understanding of logistics and distribution management, as well as the ability to lead a team and make strategic decisions under pressure. The Distribution Manager is involved in coordinating all activities related to the distribution process, including inventory control, transportation, and warehouse management. They must work closely with other departments to ensure seamless operations and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. This role is critical for maintaining a smooth supply chain, optimizing costs, and supporting the company’s overall business objectives. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective distribution strategies that align with company objectives.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and transportation services to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze logistics costs to identify and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international shipping regulations and policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics and warehouse staff for improved performance.
  • Implement technology solutions to enhance logistics efficiency and accuracy in operations.
  • Prepare and manage the distribution budget, focusing on cost control and efficiency.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and suppliers for effective collaboration.
  • Analyze distribution data to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate and oversee transportation of goods, ensuring safe and timely delivery to destinations.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained throughout the distribution process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in distribution management, logistics, or a similar role is required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop large teams effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills to assess logistics performance and identify improvements.
  • Proficient in logistics software and technologies to optimize supply chain management.
  • Solid understanding of transportation management systems and distribution networks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
