Job Description

The Distribution Manager is an integral role within a company's supply chain and logistics framework. This position is responsible for overseeing the distribution process, ensuring that goods are efficiently and effectively transported from warehouses to their destinations. The Distribution Manager is charged with optimizing distribution operations, maintaining budgets, and coordinating with various departments, including sales and marketing, warehouse management, and production teams, to ensure timely delivery of products. They are pivotal in enforcing compliance with safety standards and regulations, as well as implementing strategies to improve distribution efficiency and reduce costs. The role demands strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a strategic mindset to innovate and improve processes continually. Their ultimate goal is to ensure customer satisfaction by meeting delivery timelines and achieving operational excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily distribution operations to ensure efficiency and timeliness.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and transport teams to optimize logistics operations.
  • Develop and manage budgets for distribution activities, monitoring expenditure.
  • Establish distribution plans that align with company goals and objectives.
  • Implement and maintain safety procedures to prevent accidents and hazards.
  • Evaluate performance data to identify operational improvements and innovations.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to meet delivery expectations.
  • Negotiate contracts with transportation providers to secure favorable terms.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock availability for distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in logistics operations.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate distribution team members to enhance performance.
  • Resolve any conflicts or issues during the distribution process promptly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution or logistics management.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution software and logistics information systems.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in team and operations management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize distribution.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication skills to liaise between departments and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
