Job Description

An Assistant Nurse in the OPD Ob Gyne department is a vital team member tasked with supporting the obstetrics and gynecology medical team. They provide essential nursing care to patients visiting the outpatient department, ensuring that all clinical protocols and procedures are followed to deliver the highest standard of patient care. This role involves working closely with doctors and senior nurses to prepare patients for examinations, assist during procedures, and manage patient care plans. Additionally, the Assistant Nurse plays a significant role in educating patients about reproductive health and wellness. The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate a commitment to excellent patient care, possess strong communication skills, and display the ability to work effectively in a high-paced clinical environment.


Responsibilities

  • Assist doctors and senior nurses during examinations and medical procedures.
  • Prepare patients by taking vital signs and documenting medical histories.
  • Ensure that examination rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
  • Educate patients on prenatal care, postpartum expectations, and reproductive health.
  • Manage patient records and ensure their confidential handling and storage.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their families.
  • Coordinate with administrative staff to schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
  • Monitor patients' progress and report significant changes to the supervising nurse or doctor.
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and hospital protocols at all times.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new staff and interns as needed.
  • Implement infection control measures to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid nursing license or certification applicable to the region.
  • Previous experience in obstetrics and gynecology or related field preferred.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated skill in maintaining high standards of patient confidentiality.
  • Adapt quickly to changes in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient in using electronic medical records and healthcare software systems.
  • Display strong organizational skills and attention to detail in clinical tasks.
