Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and delivery-focused Lead Engineer to join our Security Operations Center (SOC) engineering team. This role will own engineering delivery coordination across all SOC functions, ensuring that customer onboarding/offboarding, service requests/incidents, and internal initiatives are executed smoothly, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The Lead Engineer will act as the central point of control for the engineering backlog, working closely with SOC Engineering managers, stakeholders, and customer-facing teams to prioritize work and maintain service excellence. The role also includes responsibilities in process improvement, risk management, budget oversight, and onboarding governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Own the engineering components of customer onboarding and offboarding, ensuring readiness, technical alignment, and smooth go-live as per contract scope and timelines.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams to validate prerequisites, integrations, and platform configurations before onboarding milestones.
    • Monitor onboarding progress and escalate delays or blockers to relevant stakeholders.
    • Maintain and manage the SOC engineering backlog across all customers, initiatives, and platforms.
    • Monitor backlog health, ensuring items are well-defined, prioritized, and updated in collaboration with engineering managers.
    • Balance priorities between onboarding/delivery, service requests/incidents, quota management, and internal engineering initiatives.
    • Negotiate and agree on backlog priorities with SOC engineering managers (SIEM, SOAR/AI, SOC Platforms, Platform Security) based on operational needs, SLAs, and customer commitments.
    • Implement process optimization initiatives using industry best practices (e.g., ITIL, Lean, Agile).
    • Define and track KPIs to measure delivery performance and drive continuous improvement.
    • Identify and escalate risks to delivery timelines, capacity constraints, and quota overruns.
    • Track engineering effort quotas per customer, flagging when workloads exceed agreed limits.
    • Provide input into budget planning and forecasting based on delivery trends and resource utilization.
    • Serve as the primary reporting point for SOC engineering delivery, consolidating progress updates for leadership and customers.
    • Communicate trade-offs and impacts to relevant internal and external stakeholders when priorities shift.
    • Prepare executive-level dashboards and reports to highlight delivery status, risks, and achievements.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in IT or security engineering, operations, or service management, with at least 3 years in a coordination, lead, or delivery-focused role.
  • Proven track record managing engineering or technical delivery in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL framework and service delivery best practices.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SOC tools and services (SIEM, SOAR, threat detection platforms, log management).
  • ITIL Intermediate or Expert certifications.
  • Experience with backlog and ITSM tools (Jira, ServiceNow, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with ISO 20000/27000 frameworks.
  • Experience working in environments with multiple concurrent customers.
