Job Description

The role of a Logistics Officer and Fleet Management is pivotal in ensuring smooth operations in any organization that relies on the transportation of goods and services. This role is fundamentally about coordinating the logistics and transportation needs of the company, overseeing the movement, distribution, and storage of supplies and materials, and ensuring that vehicles are managed efficiently to enhance productivity. The Logistics Officer is expected to oversee a team of logistics and fleet personnel, streamline operations, maintain transportation schedules, and ensure compliance with transport laws and regulations. They must employ strategic planning to improve fleet processes, reduce transportation costs, and support the organization’s goals by delivering critical logistics support. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and a knack for problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the logistics and transportation needs for timely distribution and storage.
  • Oversee fleet management and ensure all vehicles are well-maintained and operational.
  • Manage and schedule vehicle use to meet organizational transport requirements efficiently.
  • Track fleet usage and fuel expenditures to identify potential cost-saving areas.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations, safety standards, and vehicle registrations.
  • Develop and implement procedures for improved fleet operations and logistics management.
  • Supervise logistics staff and provide necessary training and support for task execution.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and third-party logistics companies to align delivery timelines.
  • Analyze logistics data and reports to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to logistics and fleet management activities.
  • Handle emergency situations and resolve issues related to transportation and logistics.
  • Maintain detailed records of vehicle maintenance, licenses, inspections, and insurance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in logistics and fleet management roles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze transportation data effectively.
  • Proficient in logistics management software and other related technology tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in all logistical tasks.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with teams and external partners effectively.
  • Ability to solve complex logistical problems in a fast-paced working environment.
