Heavy Truck Driver

Heavy Truck Drivers are responsible for transporting goods and materials using heavy trucks or tractor-trailers. They primarily work in the transportation and logistics industry and may be employed by transportation companies or operate independently. Heavy Truck Drivers load and unload cargo, plan and follow routes, and ensure safe and timely deliveries. They also perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy trucks or tractor-trailers to transport goods.
• Load and unload cargo, ensuring that it is secured properly.
• Plan routes to ensure timely deliveries and optimize fuel efficiency.
• Follow traffic laws and maintain safe driving practices.
• Communicate with dispatchers and provide updates on delivery status.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
• Comply with transportation regulations and company policies.
• Complete delivery documentation, such as invoices and delivery receipts.

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL).
• Good driving record with no major violations.
• Knowledge of truck inspection and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to navigate using GPS and other navigation tools.
• Physical strength and stamina to load and unload cargo.
