Job Description

As a Cath Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in a healthcare setting, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiovascular conditions. You will work closely with cardiologists and other medical professionals to ensure a high standard of care during catheterization procedures. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing the cath lab for procedures, operating advanced diagnostic imaging equipment, and providing direct patient care. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential in this role. Your commitment to patient safety and quality assurance will be key to your success as a Cath Lab Technician.


Responsibilities

  • Assist cardiologists during catheterization procedures and other cardiovascular testing.
  • Prepare and maintain cath lab equipment, ensuring functionality and safety.
  • Monitor patient's vital signs and assist in managing their comfort and safety.
  • Operate complex imaging equipment to obtain diagnostic images for review.
  • Ensure sterile techniques and protocols are followed to prevent infections.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document procedure details appropriately.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to schedule and prioritize cath lab procedures.
  • Educate patients and their families on procedure expectations and aftercare.
  • Participate in cath lab quality improvement initiatives and audits.
  • Stock supplies and manage inventory for cath lab necessities and equipment.
  • Stay updated on latest cath lab technologies and procedural advancements.
  • Provide emergency interventions as needed during critical patient procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in cardiovascular technology or a related field.
  • Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years' experience in a cath lab or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, pathophysiology, and technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and staff.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
